“A significant number of the Filipino community population here in East Africa comprises of volunteers and development workers. They are engaged in the fields of education, health, technical vocational education and training, and enterprise development, among many others. Since 1998, December has been officially declared as National Volunteer Month in recognition of the important contribution of volunteerism to nation-building and global sustainable and inclusive development. The deployment and presence of Filipino development volunteers here in Africa have contributed, albeit in modest ways, to advancing development goals in respective communities and host countries. The Philippine Embassy proudly recognizes their noble efforts which contribute towards enlarging Philippine footprint in the region,” remarkedMr. Uriel Norman R.
