
For this year, the UN designated the theme "DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality" to celebrate women and girls who champion transformative technology and digital education and inclusion.
For the Philippines, the IWD is observed as part of the National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) under the theme "WE for gender equality and inclusive society".

NAIROBI, 05 March 2023 – Philippine Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania Marie Charlotte G. Tang, with residence in Nairobi, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar, on 02 March 2023 at the State House-Zanzibar.
Ambassador Tang congratulated President Mwinyi for the excellent recovery of Zanzibar from the pandemic and the accompanying global chain disruptions.
Ambassador Tang noted that both the Philippines and Zanzibar are archipelagos, with natural complementarities and affinities. She expressed her hope to further enhance tourism and people-to-people relations.
In response, President Mwinyi encouraged Ambassador Tang to explore investment opportunities in Zanzibar, particularly in the blue economy sector. He added that Zanzibar could learn from the Philippines' experience and expertise in tourism, fisheries, agriculture, and healthcare.
Zanzibar is located off Tanzania's coast. Once a separate state, it united with Tanganyika to form the United Republic of Tanzania in 1964. Its economy is primarily based on tourism, fishing, and agriculture, with the main crops being cloves, coconut, and spices.
Zanzibar is best known for its rich cultural heritage, architecture, and beautiful beaches. It is home to Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site that showcases the blending of the different cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over the ancient trading town. END

NAIROBI, 5 March 2023 – Philippine non-resident Ambassador to Tanzania Marie Charlotte G. Tang met with the officers of the Filipino Community of Tanzania (FCT) on 01 March 2023 in Dar es Salaam.
During the meeting, FCT President Maria Agnes Aniana provided updates on the general work and living conditions of Filipinos in Tanzania and also shared information on their recent programs, including their participation in various cultural and sports activities organized with the ASEAN Embassies based in Dar es Salaam.
Ambassador Tang acknowledged the contributions of the Filipino community in promoting the Philippines in Tanzania through their good work ethic. She also thanked them for looking after the welfare of fellow Filipinos in the country.
On 2 March, Ambassador Tang also met with members of the small Filipino community in Zanzibar. END
